Liam Byrne brings over twenty years of expertise in Continuous Cover Forestry and long-term sustainable timber management to the Vault & Beam team. Through his family business, Larry Byrne and Sons (Timber) Ltd in Glenealy, County Wicklow, he has spent decades transforming Irish woodlands into permanent, uneven-aged forests that prioritise ecological health, forest resilience, and timber quality over short-term yield.
As former Chairperson of Pro Silva Ireland (2019–2023), Liam advanced close-to-nature forestry practices nationwide, contributing to national policy initiatives and training programmes that support Continuous Cover Forestry as a progressive alternative to clear-felling.
Within Vault & Beam, Liam advises on species selection, forest management strategy, and the provenance of Irish-grown timber suitable for structural use, heritage work, and high-performance buildings. His expertise ensures that the wood entering projects is technically sound, ethically sourced, and rooted in a deep understanding of forest systems. This provides the woodland intelligence and sustainability oversight that underpin Vault & Beam’s commitment to responsible forestry.
