Mike Carswell is a lead workshop carpenter and joiner at Vault & Beam. Based in County Wicklow, he’s a professional coppice worker, timber framer, and greenwood craftsman trained through the Bill Hogarth Memorial Apprenticeship Trust (BHMAT).
His approach blends traditional woodland management with structural carpentry creating work that connects forest stewardship to fine timber craft. Mike produces hazel rods, spars, gates, and fencing using heritage methods like cleaving, hewing, and adzing, all from sustainably managed Irish woodland.
At Vault & Beam, Mike ensures every project begins with responsibly sourced, hand-worked timber a reflection of his lifelong respect for craft, ecology, and the land itself.
